Writing is a lonely business, so it's
nice to find people who suffer as much as I do with the
craft. Some of these people I've met face to face, others I've
only met online, but all have helped me in one way or another.
Check out their stuff and see what you think.
Sam W. Anderson Sam writes stories that would make Ray
Bradbury proud. They're pointed, concise, and damn
entertaining. Oh, and did I mention he has a collection
of them coming out this winter? He's my go to guy for any
question on submitting stories, business protocol, and the
habits of self-pleasuring midgets. Sam has placed work
(fiction and non-fiction) in Cemetery Dance,
Insidious Reflections, Doorways
and Dark Animus.
John
Mantooth Hailing from Alabama, this bus
driving, English teaching, basketball coaching, beer swilling
son of a bitch has the best narrative voice of anyone I know.
I go homicidal with jealousy reading his stuff. He's had stories
published in: Shimmer, GUD, Electric Velocipede,
Horror Library Volumes I & II, came in second in the Apex Magazine Halloween
contest, etc. Pretty damn impressive, don't you think?
Petra
Miller Petra was the grand prize winner in Writer's
Digest's 2006 Popular Fiction Contest with this little gem "Saving Grace". Isn't that awesome? She drinks,
smokes, and swears like a guy. And this story,
"The Potluck", makes me laugh every
time.
Erik Williams When I finish Erik's stories, I
usually want to take a shower because I feel disgusting. And that's the biggest compliment I can
pay anyone. I'm also always left wondering just what Erik's political
beliefs are because he skewers both sides in a
single story; that's damn hard to do. He's placed
stories in GUD, From the Asylum, Down in the Cellar, and
others.
Tom Tessier An
honest-to-God legend. Tom's been at it for over thirty years
and still helps out the little guy (that'd be me). Do yourself
a favor and read FINISHING TOUCHES, then ask
yourself why this guy isn't as big as Stephen King.
Sunil Sadanand Sunil's stories
make me want to give
up writing. His stories are
razor-sharp and always have meat to them. If
you want your ass kicked in a critique, he's your man. And
he's spot-on everytime. Click HERE for
his website to read his impressive
resume.
Cameron Pierce He
was my roommate at Borderlands, an eighteen year old kid who read
aloud a story that Tom Monteleone called "the most mesmerizing bullshit I've
ever heard in my life." I don't pretend to understand
Cameron's stories; I just read them in awe of the pharmacueticals he
must have at hand when he writes them. Read some of his
stories HERE.
